Earthquakes on Zante Island?

Myself and my boyfriend really want to go to Greece this year and are thinking about Tsilivi on Zante island. However, I hear there are frequent earthquakes there? Anyone know how frequent they are and if theres a good chance of experiencing one during my 2 week stay? I had my heart set on going there however the earthquakes are putting me off a bit!

Yes. Zakynthos is a highle seismic place. However its not likely something will happen. At least something to be afraid of.
Back in 1953 the whole island got destroyed by a terrible earthquake ( though most of the damage happened with the fire after the quacke – it happened the time people were cooking) so it is rebuilt since then.

I witnessed almost 10 years ago, a 6,7 eathquacke with nothing more of a shake and some broken decorations.

I’m going with a friend in June, for 2 weeks. We’ll skip the discos and loud bars, however we’re up for anything else that’s not toooo strenuous.

Hi I went to Kalamaki and at the top of the main road where the bars are ( you cant miss it) there is a Cave Bar. Now its far off the main strip up a hill, so you wait and get picked up by a guy in a buggie. He takes you up there and when you have finished you shine a light in his direction and he knows to come and collect you. The bar is really nice like a castle built into caves.
Also in Zante town there is a church with a saint in a silver coffin inside, if you kiss his feet and wish for something they say it comes true. Zante town is worth a visit anyway.

I want a holiday for 2 people around 5/10 minute drive of Laganas, somewhere a bit quieter. This is for the last two weeks of September and self catering. Any suggestions of places meeting this criteria would be good as I dont know the names of any other towns in this area. Any good sites to find a suitable hotel/apartment would be great, cheers all

Tsillivi is a great place, a bit more than 5/10 minutes from Laganas however quieter and really nice. I’d definately recommend it, we booked through Thomas Cook and stayed at the Tsillivi Beach Hotel self catering, was really nice. I wish I was going back it was lovely!
