Earthquakes on Zante Island?

Myself and my boyfriend really want to go to Greece this year and are thinking about Tsilivi on Zante island. However, I hear there are frequent earthquakes there? Anyone know how frequent they are and if theres a good chance of experiencing one during my 2 week stay? I had my heart set on going there however the earthquakes are putting me off a bit!

Yes. Zakynthos is a highle seismic place. However its not likely something will happen. At least something to be afraid of.
Back in 1953 the whole island got destroyed by a terrible earthquake ( though most of the damage happened with the fire after the quacke – it happened the time people were cooking) so it is rebuilt since then.

I witnessed almost 10 years ago, a 6,7 eathquacke with nothing more of a shake and some broken decorations.

Lamberts were about £18 when we were there 2 years ago …supermarkets full of them might as well buy and stick them in your suitcase airport is so crap …………. I love Zante my favourite hol hope you enjoy …Whereabouts Are you staying…………… sorry not sure about tobacco …….

Were goin to laganas zante, and I’ve been told you cannot do watersports in laganas because of the turtles.. Where is the nearest place we could go that does do them? Cheers.

You are right, Laganas Beach does not offer water sports because of the turtles. But it is possible to takes trips to other parts of the island. There are free buses running down to St Nickolaos beach everyday, and you can have water sports there. http://www.justzante.co.uk/beachguide.asp?beach=st_nicholas

Good girl!! if your a party animal like myself you will have a wicked time!!! loads of bars, clubs, kebab shops (for afters)haha!
loads of little shops to buy pointless crap in which women love to do, the beach is nice too especially to lay on with a stinking hangover in the sun, july will be really busy nighttime will be ace loads of brits will be there too and as for the sun it will be red hot between 30-40c,
its the most popular month for the brit 18-30 club so you should be able to meet loads of new peops, try wild coyte, cherry bar, and wakiki,
theres also 20 lads staying at the same place as u on the 19th july next year too it says so on the website iv listed.

Is “Zante” another name for “Zakynthos”?

My family have booked to travel to Laganas, Zante – Greece and I am looking on the net for a holiday in the same resort hopefully close by. Can someone clarify whether Zante and Zakynthos are the same place. Also search results for Laganas bring back Lagana (without the s!!) are these the same places???? I would be grateful if someone could get back to me-Thanks

Been there twice however I was young can’t remember where I went, remember that where I stayed took us like 30 Min’s to walk to beach, and the airport is absolutely awful it’s really tiny. Especially considering I was delayed 6 hours!
