Alikanas village is in the municipality of Alykes, of which the main
village is Katastari, the largest village on Zante (Zakynthos). It is
on the north-west coast, approximately 16 kms (20 mins) from the
main town, Zakynthos, and 18 kms from the airport. The village has
a local population of 341, however has developed into a summer
tourist resort with many villas and hotels etc.

Alikanas Beach is a beautiful, soft sand beach with shallow waters,
and in walking distance of Alykes beach. There is a wide range of
water sports available and numerous restaurants and bars.

Zante has many beaches, and a visit to Laganas Beach to see the protected Caretta Caretta turtles and to Navajo Beach to see the
shipwreck are recommended. At Keri Lake there is a diving school and you may visit the nearby Blue Caves a few kilometres to the
north.

Do not miss the capital and port of Zakynthos, with its Venetian castle, Monastery, Byzantine Museum, Naval Museum, and Solomou Museum, all of which hold fascinating parts of Greek history. Each
one is well worth a visit.

Zante is a beautiful island with incredible scenery, from pine-clad
mountains to rich cultivated valleys to wonderful beaches. Wine is
produced here and is an excellent complement to the delicious Ionian
Cuisine.

I am thinking of going on holiday to zakynthos however do not want to upset my host,s by calling it zante if this was the name given to it under italian occupance during WW2

yup. its very pretty!
from the airport its about 5 miles. however you can only go from may to october. its hotel situated on just 300 metres from Laganas`s pretty beach famous for its loggerhead turtles which swim in the sea nearby. The resort centre with its range of bars and clubs is a few steps away. This hotel will appeal to couples, singles and families looking for a hotel close to the beach and resort centre. While on holiday in Zante you may get to see the famous turtles. its fun to ride on their backs!

There are no water sports available here, the turtles take priority. There is a range of bars and nightlife nearby for the young people as well as a selection of traditional and more entertainment. The main town of Zakynthos is just a few miles away and offers a great opportunity to shop and explore the habour and narrow streets. You must take pictures of those turtles! they are so cute!!

there is a nice outdoor swimming pool with a sun terrace and a restaurant as well as a bar.

All rooms have

Hey guys,
was planning on going to Zante this summer!
The only problem is, is that i’m 17! i’m hoping the drinking age out there isn’t too strict and maybe the hotels/hostels are quite laid back about under 18′s staying.

What i’m basically asking is (from someone who has been to Zante at 17 or maybe younger) if i were to go to Zante at 17 on an all inclusive holiday would i find myself in any trouble with the drinking age etc and flying without parents.

The age limit is not strictly observed. If you look a bit older than your age it will be ok even more.

Regarding boarding, it will be ok if you make arrangements over there. As for the flying your agent will tell you all you want to know about it.

The Golden Bay is a very nice hotel with good sized rooms and plenty of activities to do. It has a really big, nice pool and it is right next the beach.

The Tsilivi Beach Hotel is also very nice. The rooms are very spacious, there are several good restaurants close by, the pool is nice, and it is also right next to the beach.

The Palatino is a really pretty hotel. It’s not right on the beach, it kind of more downtown. The whole hotel is just very nice.

What age do you have to be to go to somewhere like Magaluf, Ibiza or Zante for the clubbing type holidays and if someone whose been can you tell me what it was like, me and some friends are going in the summer

I went to Magaluf when I was 18 and it was pretty much what I expected! Sun, beach and loads of fun it is really tinky though. Like it smells really bad because of the sewage system and the heat and there are really slutty guys and girls going about. Most people though are just there for some fun and it can be a really good experience. Just make sure you don’t end up on your own or let yourself or any of your friend get too drunk be careful who’s buying and looking after drinks. They are cheap holidays and cheap’s what you get however when your that age who cares haha! I have friends that went to Ibiza and they said they spent a lot more on holiday because clubs and drink was far more expensive plus there isn’t a strip in Ibiza like there is in Magaluf so you have to get taxis and buses to clubs. As for Zante another one of my friends went there and she looked like she had lots of fun!
