If you are young, Lagana is the place. If you are not, avoid it like the plague…go to Agassi instead. Zante is a great place.

Yeah I went about 4 or 5 years ago I guess..It was pretty cool actually.. Its not massive and guessing your looking for lively part? if so Laganas is the place.

When we there it absolutely poured down one night and flooded the place! Water was knee deep in the street and we were stuck in one bar for a couple of hours however a couple of us decided to go bare feet & roll our trousers up and wade through so we could carry on drinking and actually had one of the best nights of the trip! Anyway too much detail!

In summary we all had a great time however airport is very small and in peak season you will queue outside before you board plane!

Im going to Zante in a few months and just wanted your opinions of the island.

Are there any places that we should visit?

Hire a car and explore the island….. arrange a trip to see the ship wreck, – Smugglers Cove its one of the most photographed sites on the island. Visit the Keri caves, and the area of Vassilikos is good for water sports.

Laganas is the party resort, so very busy with lots of bars to choose from. Argassi and Tsilivi are busy, however not to the same extend. Alikanas, Alikes are quiter as is Tragaki, more like a greek village.

You can arrange to go to Olympia on the main land, where the olympic games were held thousands of years ago.

The island is famous for the loggerhead turtles, which tend to come onto the beach at night.

There are some great beaches on the Island. There are some monasteries on the island, and lovely villages such as Volimes.

I did Zante about 12 years ago. Loved it.

I hired a moped for the holiday, quite cheap transport. I went up to Smugglers cove by road.

Am surprised the boat is still there. I did a few boat trips, Blue Lagoon being one of them. Take mask and snorkel as the water there is crystal clear and well worth the dip.

Kalamaki has changed quite a bit over the past few years and the resort is now spread out over a fairly large area. Fortunately most of the development has been concentrated on the main Kalamaki to Laganas road leaving the beach area and back roads relatively undisturbed. The original character of the resort is still there. The bars, restaurants and people who first made it popular are still here. The Cave Bar shown left, has hardly changed over the years, and still offers something unique. It’s the closest resort to the airport and although there are no night flights, several planes land just after 6.00 AM. Only the western part of the resort is affected and otherwise the resort is fairly quiet and relaxing. It’s a good location, close to Laganas, Zante Town and Argassi. Laganas is only a five minute taxi ride away, and taxis run until the early hours of the morning. Don’t worry if you don’t have a pool as there are plenty of pool bars which are open to the public.
